Steven and I go to Canada

Last night, I had a dream that Steven and I showed up early for the family's annual campout.  My uncle John was there, and he was stressing out because he insisted that we needed some Canadian lumber before the end of the campout.  (I have no idea what for.)  So Steven and I offered to take a road trip to Vancouver, and promised we could get back before the end of the campout.

Somehow, Steven and I ended up in a big gray 15-passenger van, and we picked up a hitchhiker along the way, who offered us some of his home-made candy.  We took it, and the guy started laughing at us and saying that he'd laced the candy with cocaine.

So, imagine Steven and I on a road trip, tripping out on cocaine.

(Disclaimer: in real life I have never ingested any illegal substances.)

Night time came, and I was really irritated because I couldn't go to sleep.  I woke up shortly after that, I just think it's funny that I was asleep and dreaming about not being able to sleep.

Watching too much "The Following"

So pretty much immediately after I started this blog, I stopped having so many wild dreams.  Maybe they are starting back up again, because last night I had a pretty wild one.

It was just after Zach and I got married.  We lived in the house that my mom and dad first lived in as a married couple, on that property!  (Which is odd, since they no longer live there.)  The first part of the dream was warm and happy feeling :).

One day, for reasons I don't remember, I ventured into Corvallis by myself.  I was wandering downtown (one of my favorite things to do in C-town) when I got grabbed and kidnapped.  I got taken to this large grassy field that was surrounded by dense forest, and there were lots of people hanging out there.  It was a very warm summer day, and the atmosphere was energetic but almost kinda friendly, like summer camp or something.  Which was odd, since I'd just been kidnapped.

Then I noticed two of my friends, my college roommate Melissa and her husband Dominic.  I was all excited to see them, but they (especially Melissa) seemed very panicked and worried, and I assumed she'd been kidnapped too.

Suddenly I noticed that our (my and Zach's) house was there in the field, but Zach wasn't.  I grabbed Melissa and Dominic and we went inside.  Everything inside was torn up:  furniture tipped over, wallpaper ripped off the walls...and also everything was in black and white, like the Wizard of Oz or something.  Then Dominic started laughing...at us...telling us he'd tricked us, and now we were never leaving, we were going to become a part of this cult.  Melissa and I promptly escaped through a window, and ran into some brush.

Unfortunately, we ran into the cult leader there, who told us that he would not kill us if we agreed to stay and each gave him $300 on the spot.  I don't know why I was carrying around $100 bills (or why Melissa was either for that matter) but we each gave him three of them on the spot.  He then said we'd better keep hiding, or other cult members would try to kill us.  He said that for an additional $100 per day, he would help us find hiding spots from the other cult members.  We agreed.

While we were hiding in a little brush cave thing, Melissa and I spotted a navy blue SUV off in the distance.  With one look at each other, we ran to it, and noticed the keys in the ignition.  I hopped in the driver's seat, prepared to incur damage to the car by driving it right through the brush so we could leave as quickly as possible.  I looked over to Melissa in the passenger seat to clear that plan with her, and realized she was pointing an old west-style pistol at me, with a grin spreading across her face.  At that point, I realized she was part of the cult too.

Then my alarm clock went off.
